La Route

We have had many memorable encounters over the last 15 years. This one story will stick with me forever.  Such an experience keeps me going and what makes me love what I do so much. It takes place at the Edmonton Butterdome Signatures Craft Show. A Saturday and quite busy. The day just flies by. I finish up with a customer and go to grab a quick break. On my return a young girl comes in. Her baseball cap is low over her face.  She is hunched over. I say, “How are you today?”  She looks down but manages a small voiced “hello”.  I feel like I should leave her be but I can’t do that. Not in my…
Emu Oil is used for so many ailments. We do not advertize it as such, but our customers do. I could talk about Emu Oil  'till the cows come home', for all of its amazing healing properties. What it’s done for me alone is a book of blogs. I use it cosmetically, regularly and love it more than any other product I have ever used.  But check out this story... It’s late afternoon, a hot day, almost uncomfortable. Dealing with a packed booth, loving my job as always. It is Windsor, Ontario at the Art In The Park.  Great show. Hundreds of vendors and the people of Windsor come, rain or shine.  Two…

“Look out! Omygod, IT'S going to cross the road. Slow downnnnnnn! A deer. A deer. Omygod, we almost hit a deer.” “It wasn’t a deer. It was a moose. And it ‘s escaped back into the woods.”     Do I argue, discuss, relent? “Are those trees dead from a forest fire or a blight? “ “Does a grisly attack us for our meat or because we have crossed into their territory? “ “Was that a bald eagle or a huge raven? “ “Do beavers make a damn to slow fish down?"   "Fish? I thought they liked bark?” Mountain novices. Eastern Neophytes. Maybe it was a tiny moose? But I love the jabber, the ponderings…
Our home follows us on the road. John, my husband and Earth To Body partner is the main driver on our road tours across the country. Every spring we join the craft show circuit, bringing our product fresh to market. John is not a trucker. He never had to handle massive semis day in day out. He did not need CB lingo to warn his buddies of a ‘Smoky in the bush’*, or ‘Kojack with a Kodak’ ** This spring we decided to upgrade our 25-foot trailer to a 30 footer. Add a few extra feet on the new and necessary GM Savanna and the Earth To Body caravan is a whole new pulling adventure. Pulling a…
Clay Masking  and emulating Jim Carrey grins in front of the mirror. Popping green grapes, sipping Sauvignon Blanc, luxuriating in your salt bath, feeling devilish as Dire Straits lures you over to the other side. Sneaking a read of Huckleberry Finn and transporting yourself into a world where water was pure and soap stung the eyes. So naughty. Spoiling and oiling your skin, feeling good about making the decision to go green, go clean. Experiencing a softness and a smoothness on your skin, like a rebirth. And you haven’t cheated. You feel proud because you are sticking with the program.…
You asked for it! “Please write a blog about your antics in the world of Earth to Body. What is it like travelling all over the country?” Well, here goes! Just getting through the holiday season is a trip in itself, as many of you well know! If you are reading this, you are a survivor. Deep breaths of congratulations. It is over. New Year's, come, gone. Resolutions out the window. Again. I love the hype, the angst, the adrenaline rush of the perfect stocking stuffer, the unexpected guest, the brown spotted beans. I bought green beans for dinner 2 days in advance. When I split the…
