The redness of rosacea. What does one do? There is no cure, only treatments that a dermatologist can help to advise. The chemicals may be calming, but in the end, not always that helpful.
However, while natural skin care makes absolutely no claims as to the treatment of rosacea, this does not mean that a good healthy regime cannot make a difference.
Wikipedia defines Rosacea: A long-term skin condition that typically affects the face. It results in redness, pimples, swelling, and vessels. Often the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin are most involved. If you suffer from rosacea then you know stress, weather, diet, activity, room temperature, etc all play a part. It is also known that certain creams and other topical treatments for things like acne, wrinkles, and sun protection can cause flare-ups.
There are no easy answers. The one thing you do have some control over, other than diet, is what you actually APPLY to the skin. If you discard the products that may contain irritating substances you may have less chance of a flare-up.
We can offer some suggestions:
Cleansing: Use only a mild, natural soap containing pure carrier oils, no essential oils, like our gentle Castile Moringa soap. Another choice would be our essential oil free Charcoal Clay soap, always extremely soothing.
While essential oils* are generally very nourishing, rosacea sufferers are often in the ‘extremely sensitive' category. Pure 'foods for the skin' may be the best choice at the beginning. It is also wise to add on occasion a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar to your facial cleansing waters to help restore and maintain the skin’s PH to alkaline.
Moisturizing: To start, use 100% pure carrier oils**. We offer Argan, Unrefined Emu and Tamanu oil. We have had incredible testimonials on these oils for rosacea.
"My brother was here last week," a customer smiled as she proceeded to purchase 3 tamanu oils. " He has never experienced anything as soothing on his rosacea like this tamanu." We have heard similar reports on the emu oil and next, the argan oil. Try them individually or try mixing a few drops of each together.
Sun and weather protection: Natural oils do give protection and you can always google the SPF factors of any good carrier and essential oil.
Make up: If an important part of your regime, use only natural mineral makeup. Whenever possible, wear none and allow the skin to recover.
No matter what you try on your skin it is wise to test first on a small area, especially if you tend to be overly sensitive.
