Did you know pure, unrefined emu oil is not easily found? Health food stores often carry emu oil. But it is the clear, whitish refined emu oil and is often sold in a small pump bottle. I like that part but we do not offer it to you. We make you work for your emu oil.
Earth to Body's unrefined emu oil has the highest Vitamin E content of any plant or animal worldwide. It is high in omegas and has the highest penetrating depth of any oil. This makes it very special. It also makes it a little harder to care for. Such is life:)
You really should refrigerate it once it has been opened. In the fridge, it settles into a soft solid. It will not pump in this cool state, but can easily be removed with a small spoon or spatula. This is the 'work' part of it. Fingers are not welcome.
Most people who have experienced the refined emu oil do seem to like it. The refined oil is a processed oil and therefore not as rich in nutrients and it does not penetrate as deeply. It has a greasier feel and tends to sit longer on the skin. Most companies do not tell you to refrigerate it as the shelf life is longer than the unrefined yellow emu oil. People buy the refined oil because that is all they know. Until they meet us. They become converts.
Refrigeration will help prevent our oil from going rancid. If you respect it and use only clean utensils to remove some of the oil, it can remain healthy for up to 2 years or longer. A small amount can be kept at room temperature for a short period of time (up to several weeks or longer). You can travel with it and you should never travel wthout it. Once you fall in love with emu oil, as you will, it will be a trusted companion.
